China: Sudden Road Collapse Swallows Car in Baotou, Inner Mongolia

On May 17, 2026, in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, a video captured a dangerous scene as vehicles were moving along the road when drivers suddenly noticed that a large sinkhole had opened up ahead. A car in front appeared to have no time to stop and fell directly into the deep hole with the people inside. The collapsed section covered a large part of the roadway, creating a frightening hazard for passing vehicles. Local authorities later responded that no casualties had been reported. Footage ended with the vehicle disappearing into the pit.
